HPC recognizes winners of the youth video competition on the economic impact of Covid-19

The Higher Population Council recognized on Wednesday the winners of the youth video production competition on the economic impact of Covid-19 on youth and their role in responding to the crisis. The competition was implemented by HPC in collaboration with the Royal Film Commission of Jordan and with support from UNFPA.

The Director of Communications at HPC, Etaf Al Hadid, noted that the competition aims to enhance youth awareness and strengthen their role in the field of population and development during Covid-19, and shed light in a simple manner through the media on the economic and social impact of the pandemic on youth and the role of institutions and the private sector in supporting and empowering youth, enhancing equal opportunity, and raising the awareness of society.

Ms. Hadid also emphasized the role of youth in addressing population and development challenges in society and the need to raise their awareness and engage them in national efforts to overcome these issues and challenge.

The competition, which targeted young men and women, focused on the social, economic, and psychological impact of Covid-19 on youth and women as well as on gender-based violence. The competition also focused on entrepreneurships, innovation, creativity and initiatives taken during the pandemic in addition to risks at the individual and community levels.  

A video entitled “Lina” came in at first place, while the second place went to a video entitled “Frankly speaking”, and two videos entitled “The black visitor” and “An Engineer in the time of Covid-19” tied for third place.
