Secretary-General of Higher Population Council, Dr. Abla Amawi, gave a presentation today, on “Integrating Sustainable Development Goals SDGs into subnational planning and budgeting frameworks”, throughout a specialized session at Nairobi Summit of International Conference on Population and Development +25 Accelerating the Promise.

As a nominated speaker, Dr. Amawi pointed out that policy data in Jordan are utilized to support implementing decentralization, results-based accountability; establish evidence-based data for policymaking.

Amawi also discussed the disparity in unemployment and inequality, showing poverty levels, quality of services, infrastructure, and the importance of collecting indicators at a local level to increase the effectiveness of policymaking and the localizing sustainable development goals on a national level.

It is worth mentioning that Jordan had an effective participation in Nairobi Summit on ICPD +25 Accelerating the promise; through a national delegation headed by Secretary-General of Higher Population Council, Dr. Abla Amawi, and includes Secretaries-General of the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Social Development, Secretary-General of National Council for Family Affairs, representatives of civil society organizations, youth organizations, parliamentarians, as well as  Jordanian television.

Head of delegation presented Jordan's position paper, which included Jordan's achievements toward the most prominent global commitments addressed at Nairobi Summit based on ICPD Program of Action 1994, which stemming from the Higher Population Council's previous consultations with relevant national and local stakeholders in this area.
