The Higher Population Council meets with the Islamic Action Front Party IAFP on the current demographic status of the population in Jordan

Professor Dr. Issa Al-Masarwa, HPC Secretary-General met, Sunday January 28, 2024 with Engineer Murad Al-Adaileh, Islamic Action Front Party (IAFP) Secretary-General and a number of party members. Also present during the meeting were Eng. Wael Al-Saqqa, Deputy Secretary-General, Eng. Rakeen Abu Haniyeh, Head of women’s sector, Moataz Al-Harout, Head of the youth sector,  Fahim Badran,  IAFP director, members of the Shura Council: Dr. Hayat Al-Musaimi and Omaima Al-Akhras, and Dr. Bayan Abdullah, social advisor.

Dr. Masarwa gave a presentation on the current demographic and family situation in Jordan and its current and projected impacts on all sectors and needs. Dr. Masarwa pointed out the importance of the role of IAFP in contributing to achieving comprehensive national development and in addressing societal issues and challenges. HPC's initiative to hold this meeting stems from its strong desire that the party (IAFP) includes, within its programs, development issues and challenges related to the demographic situation.

Engineer Murad Al-Adaileh, IAFP Secretary-General, briefed the audience on the party’s programs of action, where he commended HPC’s initiative in holding the meeting to discuss national demographic issues, while stressing the importance of the figures, information and indicators presented and which contribute in giving a more clear understanding and vision of the demographic features in Jordan.

During the course of the meeting, there were discussions and interactions on the aspects and elements of the demographic situation of the population, during which Al-Masarwa responded to inquiries and questions of attendants.

This meeting comes within HPC work plan for the year 2024, which includes holding meetings with Jordanian political parties to review the demographic scene in Jordan and exchange ideas about ways to encounter the challenges relevant to this scene. Through these dialogue meetings, HPC seeks to keep political parties well informed of the most recent and expected demographic changes in Jordan and the impact they have on all social, economic and environmental sectors and needs. It is to be noted that all these efforts are encompassed under the enactment and fulfilment of the royal vision calling for communication, coordination and cooperation between governmental, official institutions and civil state institutions
