Collaborative Workshop to Review the Framework of the National Sexual and Reproductive Health Strategy (2020-2024)
Thursday, 22 October 2020

HPC, with the support of the UNFPA/ Jordan Office, held today a collaborative workshop to review the general framework of the National Sexual and Reproductive Health Strategy for (2020-2024).
The workshop was attended by members of the technical committee for the strategy who represent partner institutions. This review comes in the wake of the exceptional circumstances that Jordan and the world have been experiencing due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
HPC Programs Director, Dr. Sawsan Al Da’ajah pointed out in her remarks that the strategy aims to provide a conducive and supportive environment for sexual and reproductive health issues in Jordan, to help reach the peak of the demographic opportunity and achieve citizens’ wellbeing. Dr. Sawsan added that the strategy contributes to achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals at the national level, particularly SDG 3, which aims to ensure healthy lives and promote wellbeing for all at all ages, and ensure universal access to sexual and reproductive healthcare services, including for family planning, information and education, and the integration of reproductive health into national strategies and programmes by 2030.
The strategy is a key document-of-reference that includes the outcomes, outputs, inputs and indicators that partners seek to achieve at the national level to continue the efforts exerted in previous national plans, build on lessons learned and maintain previous gains and accomplishments.
The workshop presented the draft strategy for (2020-2024) and reviewed and adapted its pillars, results, outcomes, outputs and inputs to make it responsive to emergency situations, especially Covid-19, which greatly impacted reproductive health information and services.
