A delegation of geography master’s students from Yarmouk University visited the Higher Population Council today to learn about HPC’s efforts in the field of policies aimed at realizing and investing in the demographic dividend and integrating the demographic dimension in local and national development plans and the key outcomes of studies carried out by HPC.

During the meeting, HPC Assistant Secretary General and Strategic Planning Director, Dr. Rania Al Abbadi, emphasized the vital role youth play in advancing the Jordanian society and noted that HPC considers education and youth as priority issues that go hand in hand with achieving and investing in the demographic dividend.

Abbadi gave a presentation to the delegation explaining what the demographic dividend is and the policies for realizing and investing in it. Moreover, HPC senior researcher, Ghaleb Al Azzeh, overviewed the role of HPC in integrating a population dimension in development plans and the key outcomes of studies conducted by HPC. The delegation also watched films produced by HPC on the demographic dividend and the impact of population growth on development.

During the meeting as well, the questions and inquiries of students about the work and programs of HPC in the field of population issues and policies were answered.
