HPC, in cooperation with the Department of Statistics, and with the support of UNFPA, kicked off a series of collaborative workshops today to review the national plan for realizing and investing in the demographic dividend and to develop related measurable indicators.

Participants in the workshops include demographic dividend liaison officers at the national institutions involved in measuring demographic dividend indicators, the HPC technical committee and the Department of Statistics. The goal of the workshops is to identify measurable demographic, health, education and economic indicators to follow up on demographic dividend policies.  

The workshop sought to reach consensus on how to develop different types of indicators to monitor progress in this area and finally come up with a matrix of approved measurable and trackable indicators.

Representing HPC’s role of monitoring demographic dividend policies, these workshops are implemented in line with the MOU signed between HPC and DOS and are a follow up to the previously-held workshop on measuring demographic dividend indicators.
