HPC concludes training program on demographic dividend KPIs in national plans

The Higher Population Council recently concluded a training programs for staff of ministries and national agencies to enhance their capacity in integrating indicators for demographic dividend policies and goals into national strategies and plans.

The training program, which was offered to staff of planning, institutional development and policies directorates at ministries and national agencies in addition to demographic dividend liaison officers, aimed to provide participants with knowledge, skills and positive attitudes towards the integration of population indicators in national plans and strategies and enhance the capacity of liaison officers at planning, institutional development and policies directorates in how to integrate performance indicators for the demographic dividend policies and goals in national plans and strategies.

HPC secretary general, Engineer Maysoon Al Zoubi, noted that this program reflects HPC’s belief that the plans and programs of national agencies should encompass a population dimension, demographic indicators and goals of demographic dividend policies. She also noted that coordination and harmonization of national efforts is essential to population and development policies and realize the demographic dividend.

HPC programs director, Dr. Sawsan Da’aja noted that the training program addressed performance indicators for demographic dividend policies and how to integrate them into national strategies and plans. It also covered the basics of strategic planning, as-is analyses for national plans and strategies, methodologies for integrating demographic indicators and projections into strategic plans, as well as monitoring and evaluation plans for the integration of demographic indicators.
