The Higher Population Council and the Department of Statistics signed a memorandum of understanding to implement the Improvement of Gender Indicators project financed by KVINFO organization.  The aim of this project is to contribute  to the monitoring and follow up on the gender related indicators of the Demographic Opportunity in Jordan: Policy Document.

The Secretary General of the Higher Population Council Dr. Sawsan Majali indicated that this cooperation will contribute to the mapping of gender indicators at the governorates level, and therefore facilitating HPC's efforts to follow up on the Demographic Opportunity indicators at the institutional and governorates level. 

Dr. Majali added that one of the aims of the memorandum of understanding is to benefit from the experiences of both organizations in the area of gender related indicators, and the indicators for monitoring and follow up on the progress in implementing the Demographic Opportunity in Jordan: Policy Document, and  in order to organize the ways of mutual cooperation in implementing the activities of the project.

The Director General of the Department of Statistics, Dr. Qasim Al-Zubi stressed the importance of  building the capacity of producers and users of such data, especially gender indicators, pointing out that providing reliable statistical data with official references is one of the most important elements to the success of programs and projects for the future.

Al-Zubi referred to the importance of gender databases, which constitute the focal point for all plans, programs and projects aimed at reducing gender gaps in all fields, in addition, to being the most important means to identify the extent of integration in economic, social, cultural, health, political and other conditions.
