Professor Dr. Issa Al-Masarwa, HPC Secretary-General met with Dr. Salah Al-Qudah, Secretary-General of the Jordanian Future and Life Party, Tuesday, February 14, 2024 to review and confer on the current demographic situation of the population of Jordan. Attending the meeting also were a number of party members: Dr. Abdullah Naqrish / Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Zakaria Al-Faqih / Assistant Secretary-General, Dr. Abdel Fattah Al-Kilani / Chairman, The Central Council, Mr. Saed Al-Qaddoumi / Director of Administration, Engineer Khaled Al-Shatnawi / Member of the Executive Council.
During the meeting, Dr. Masarwa briefed the audience on the current demographic and family scene in Jordan and its current and expected impacts on all sectors and on Jordanian needs. Dr. Masarwa highlighted the importance the parties hold in their contribution to achieve comprehensive national development and address societal issues and challenges.
HPC's initiative to hold meetings with the political parties stems from the Council’s strong desire that parties need to include, within their programs, development issues and challenges related to the demographic situation.
Secretary General of the Jordanian Future and Life Party, Dr. Al-Qudah, commended the initiative taken by HPC in holding the meeting with party members to focus on national demographic issues in acknowledgement of the important role of HPC in providing information, studies and statistics to civil society organizations and partner institutions and coming up with recommendations, reports and studies that serve the public interest and objectives. During the course of the meeting, a discussion took place where Dr. Masarwa addressed questions and queries brought forth by the audience .
This meeting comes within HPC work plan for the year 2024, which includes holding meetings with Jordanian political parties to review the demographic scene in Jordan and exchange ideas about ways to encounter the challenges relevant to this scene. Through these dialogue meetings, HPC seeks to keep political parties well informed of the most recent and expected demographic changes in Jordan and the impact they have on all social, economic and environmental sectors and needs. It is to be noted that all these efforts are encompassed under the enactment and fulfilment of the royal vision calling for communication, coordination and cooperation between governmental, official institutions and civil state institutions
