“Higher Population Council” Initiates Radio Announcements Addressing Four Priority Demographic Issues Over Two Months
Sunday, 1 October 2023

A number of Jordanian radio stations, in coordination with the Higher Population Council, began broadcasting four announcements on four priority demographic issues prepared by the Council starting today, Sunday:

(1) The unbalanced geographical distribution of the population and its financial and administrative costs; and the relevant economic and environmental consequences caused by the concentration of 92% of Jordan’s population in the northwestern half of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

(2) There are various benefits for newlyweds when they delay their first baby childbearing.

(3) The negative consequences of girls' marriage under the age of 18.

(4) Many job opportunities are available for unemployed males, who make up more than 70% of the total number of unemployed in Jordan. 63% of those unemployed males have not completed their secondary education.

The Council's broadcast of the announcements on Jordanian radio, which will continue for two months, stems from the Council's role as a reference for all demographic issues and information related to sustainable development. Also, it stems from its contribution to advocacy and spreading awareness about these issues in order to reach and achieve sustainable development, as well as to achieve justice and equal opportunities.

These announcements are also available to all institutions and individuals who find them useful for the purposes of their activities and programs. It targets their audience of society members, young people and decision-makers in particular in order to increase knowledge and awareness, gain support and reform legislation in everything related to the topics of these announcements.
