 The Secretary General of the Higher Population Council (HPC) Sawsan Majali stated the increase in the population is directly reflected on the number of students enrolled in higher education.


The Secretary General of HPC, who was speaking about the "Demographic Opportunity& the OUTCOMES OF THE EDUCATIONAL SYSTEMS " at a meeting of the Deans of the University of Jordan, Presided by  Professor Dr. Ekhleif Tarawneh, said that the number of enrolled bachelor's and graduate degree students is expected to rise from about 276 000 students in the upcoming year to about 375 000 students in 2030, an increase of nearly 100 thousand students in the next 15 years .
 
Majali pointed out that the number of university students enrolled in bachelor's and graduate degree studies has increased during the last two years to more than five thousand students.

Majali called for including the concepts of reproductive health/family planning and the concepts of the demographic opportunity in the curricula of health colleges and health training programs, emphasizing the importance of including the Population & Development chapter  in the National Education course for university students.

Dr Majali emphasized on the importance of supporting students graduation projects as an opportunity for their own future projects. HPC head stressed the need for strengthening the relationship between the community service programs offered by universities and the civil society organizations with regards to raising their awareness on population issues.
